Club: Radio-Amateurs Vaudois

Comments:

My first solo effort from EU, and all arranged at the last minute thanks to
HB9AFI, HB9AYX, and HB9IJI of the Radio-Amateurs Vadois, my new local club. (I
recently moved to Switzerland for at least the next few years, though the SO2R
station at W3EF in Maryland is still up and running--even growing--in the
meantime.) Although I did bring a second radio to the club station, it didn't
get much use since I couldn't figure out how to mute the sidetone on the CQ
radio! Also had to quit in the middle of a great NA run on 15 and miss the last
8 hours of the contest because it began to snow and I had to get home in order
to teach the next day.

10 meters was amazing - dead dead dead, and then suddenly the curtain lifted
for a moment or two -- not to EU or NA but to 3B8, VK9, and other juicy mults.
This happened several times over the course of Sunday morning and more than kept
me awake!

In the middle of EU it sure is frustrating to make twice as many contacts as
back home in W3 but still not make the same score. I am determined one of these
days to run this contest from AF or SA!

Thanks for all the Qs....

73,

Maury W3EF/HB9
