OUCH! and on my favorite day too!! April 1st gives us Baseball, Final Four in
BBall, Daylight Savings, April Fools Day, and the notorious Poisson D'Avril
contest...so I thought the Sprint would be a delite as well...not to be.
10 minutes before the test and only N4AF and K1DG are visible..and DG is handing
out 599001 to anyone who will answer, over and over again... Usually with 10
minutes before a sprint, there's tons of activity, but this vacuum was a sign of
things to come. Great out of the blocks rate, then the big fizzle..no one left
to work. its 5pm..20 is empty of anyone new, and 40 is great for 200 mile skip,
and nothing beyond. I've never heard K6LL, K7NV and even N6RO so weak on 40
before. Figured I had 2:50 left of 40/80 QRN and gnashing and slashing, so
called it a day...All tolled it was the right time to call it quits and tune
into the UCLA (should be the Zags!)- LSU game. Did some folks not show up,
thinking it was a Aprils Fools day joke? We really do need critical mass of
stations for all to have more fun. Maybe we need to offer prizes?
.................see you in the next one with renewed hope of great rate! 73 de
Dan Wa, K7SS
