Comments:
Congratulations to the K3LR and W3LPL teams for two fantastic photo-finish
scores!
It was an "interesting" weekend. High winds during the day on Friday caused
several antenna issues that popped up throughout the weekend on nearly every
band station. Ten Meters was the only station that survived failures this
weekend, save for the band itself!
A special thanks goes out to Bud W2RU who volunteered to help fill in, in spite
of challenges involving transportation and a (very understanding) wife
recovering from surgery. The last 5 miles of his trip from NY to NH took
an hour due to the wind storm; normal route blocked by wires down on the road
and nobody could tell him how to detour around to Hurricane Hill. Meanwhile,
power was out at his home; by Saturday it was clear that the right thing to do
was head back home.
Watching the K1XM realtime score close in on us Sunday afternoon was scary and
certainly kept us on our toes; we couldn't find any way to match their QSO rate.
Congratuations to the K1XM team on a FB effort!
Last but certainly not least, a very special thanks to Christine, Sabrina,
Cassandra, and Anika for their top-notch hospitality all weekend long. It's
been a rough few weeks for everyone in the Strelow family as Matt recovers from
a hip infection. With everything going on, their willingness to host the team
all weekend in their home for something as insignificant as a contest
doesn't go unnoticed.
