Sixth outing in ANARTS. Score is about four times higher than last year, and
1.25 million higher than my best in 2005. Adding a little power helped work
more DX on 20M and 40M. Got all six continents in the bag early. Bands could
have been better, considering the SFI spike upward to over 80 for a few days
before the start, down to 76 by the end. Found 10 dead, 15 barely breathing,
and 20 a bit noisy with weak EU openings both days.

40M hasn't been good till rather late in the evenings when most stations are
gone. Went to bed at 11 p.m. Saturday night, and was up again at 2 a.m. to
drive to a 24-hour relay fund-raiser (I was the walker/runner for our team's 3
to 4 a.m. shift -- a time picked so it wouldn't get in the way of the contest).
Got home at 4:45 a.m. to work 40M and it was very good. Quite a lot of
Pacific/Asia DX on the half-square, many calling in and some S&P. Can't say
enough good about that simple wire antenna.

Worked 4 VKs this time out -- all on 20M. Worked 2 ZLs on 20M and 3 ZLs on 40M.
Looking for improvements on 15M and the return of 10M (a little, anyway) for
next year.

A lot of mults missed due to 80M inactivity. K7QQ invited me to QSY to 80 at 10
p.m. Pacific (0500z) Saturday night, and that 5-minute episode provided 5 of my
6 Qs there, and the W7 mult. Thanks for the invitation, Rex. Wish more of us
had fired up the longer wires.
