Comments:

What fun! I put up 2 new antennas to compare with my usual inverted-Vee at ~30m
in a tree in the front garden. One was a topband dipole on open wire feeder at
the top of the ~50m hill behind the house that normally blocks me to the South.
It tuned up nicely on 80 using a QRO balanced ATU hastily rigged-up
breadboard-style just a few hours before the start, and was useful for the LP
openings to Europe as expected. The inverted-Vee was slightly better the rest
of the time, though, presumably due to losing a couple of dBs in the long open
wire feed to the summit and high SWR on the line. A sloping quarter-wave
vertical didn't do too well: I guess sloping the bottom ~5m at ~45 degrees into
a tree was not such a good idea.

Highlights: several solid runs, not quite as frantic as on the higher bands but
good signals from all parts of the globe. Beat the current Oceania SOSBA record
on the first evening.

Lowlights: EU alligators with S9+ signals but no RX. N1MM wrongly guessed many
UA zones: have the Ruskies moved without changing their calls? Amp change-over
relay stuck in TX (again!).
