                    CQ 160-Meter Contest, CW

Call: WJ9B
Operator(s): WJ9B
Station: WJ9B

Class: Multi-Op HP
QTH: Fl
Operating Time (hrs): 36

Summary:
Total: QSOs = 1135 State/Prov = 56 Countries = 62 Total Score = 418,000

Club: Florida Contest Group

Comments:

The total score is a fairly accurate estimate from a multi-op effort in North
Florida. N2CEI, station manager, K4SME, social organizer and day-time op, and
K0DI and WJ9B, CW ops, plus hound dog, always with something to say whenever
necessary. We made some improvement over last year, and hopefully will
continue to do so in the future. Our station manager wants to see better op
performance, but the ops claim technical aspects need improvement over operator
skill! Hound dog just barks, but I think she is on the side of the ops.....hard
to tell. The food was great!

The first night was nice and quiet but the rate was not what was expected
although the "second night rule," percentage of first night qsos, was a good
indicator that the ops were doing their jobs. The beverages worked well, but
the vertical was very useable under low noise conditions.

Gear: Omni VI with roofing filter
TX Ant: Baloon vertical, full size
RX Ant: Beverages
Amp: AL 1200

We are already preparing for the next season! Next time at least one of the CW
ops will NOT forget to bring a CW keying interface for the computer. We started
the contest at 2205, keying manually, until our highly competent station manager
came up with a keying interface, but he wasn't happy that he had to do that...he
mumbled something about HF operators. I couldn't quite get what he said but it
may have started with an "F."
