Comments:

All checked out at the station the day before, but we took a lightning hit
overnight. Even though things were unplugged and disconnected, when we fired
up, the first thing we noticed was that the logging computer had died. It took
about 20 minutes into the CQP to make a few contacts, then lots of stops to
slowly bring things back online. The main item which continued to stay
inoperative was the data output on the radio (we swapped out band decoders), so
we had to hand switch band and mode .. lots of room for error.

But other than that, two Air Traffic Control students and an aviation
instructor had a great time working California stations! As always, it was fun
trying for the Sweep. We worked our 56th county, Lassen, at 2207, but couldn't
find #57 Sierra until 0010, then were waiting at the line until K6AQL/m crossed
into Merced at 0143 for #58.

Even though band conditions were great on 20 and 15, 10 never opened up into
Kansas. With another school event to attend we couldn't put in a full run this
year, but enjoyed the time we did operate.  Hope to put you all in the log
during Sweepstakes!
