Best personal score on this test ever !
The conditions were excellent; this time focused on getting more multipliers
adn try get 3:1 ratio on the CW/SSB respectively.
Day 1
Started mostly S&P with and brief 50 minutes stint. The band closed at
0305z (Friday 9:25 Pm local time).
Went to bed and woke up at 1230z (6:30 AM local), had a double espresso, bread
and was ready to go!
Started scanning the band at 12:45z. Commenced to hear several EU stations
working furiously East coasters at 13:01z, but could not work any one until
1314z when DL1VJ
could pick me up.
Again, mostly S&P and some EU runs -Worh to mention that all east coast
"The wall"is on my direct path to EU, so
those runs are short and complicated.
Continued in this fashion -with some humanitarian breaks in between-
until the 22:00z when the first JAs starter to appear on scene.
Day 2
000z Worked several nice AS and OC multipliers but forced to do an early hard
stop at 0020z because of the Company's Christmas dinner (....aaargh).
I estimate I'd lost about 80 Q's because of this.
Anyway, for the next solar cycle I will not worry about it.
I woke up again at 1240z, heard the firts signal at 13:03z, an HK station whose
signal went from s1 to s5
in like 3 minutes, I called him but he was too busy working Eu stations.
First QSO was with an s57 station at 1325z.
1537z: Had a great 1-hour EU CW run with no objections by "The
wall".
Continued with a mix of S&P and running mostly on CW and closed the working
on SSB the 15 minutes
of the test.
There were several instances that I was asked to repeat the exchange twice or
more, because they were asking for number and seemed confused
whenI was sending my state abbreviation
I could not break the 2002 XE claimed score record held by friend 6J1KK
(XE1KK);
got short by 50K points, but had more mults.
Final ratio: 75% CW, 25% SSB
On the bright side, I managed to work DXCC (106 countries)+ all stateside,
and just missed one VE province (NU).
Also worked 4 XE states.
Heard at noise level: XE2S, XE2ST and XE1B who 2 hours before the end of the
test faced a monster pile-up caused by a wrongly posted cluster spot.
