Comments:
And what a great ride that was! I wasn't really fired up before the contest, a
combination of station not being ready and knowing what a slug a fone contest
would be - but I also knew the fire would come back one I made a few Q's. It
did.
Interesting conditions to say the least. Sunday for me was better than
Saturday - in fact I made 4 more contacts the second day than the first.
Scandanavian and Baltic stations were rare the first day, better but not good
the second. With all the great skip on the high bands, it was more notable
what wasn't there than what was. No z17 on 10 or 15, missed UR on 20(??) and
on and on.
Stayed up later than I should have the first night (not being well enough
rested before the contest) and slept in 'til after sunrise Sat, first q at
1255z. Played it better the second night. I'm the extra sleep did more good
than harm, felt relatively good on Sunday. I certainly hope everyone that
clamored for the classic category got on and put their full 24 hours in.
Didn't get all my planned improvements done (what else is new?), but did get
the TH6 raised 10ft (which surprisingly seemed to make a notable difference)
and got up a 402ba. Wrong contest to try that one out, eh? - but it seemed to
work well. Didn't notice any ill effects on the TH6, which was a good thing.
