Comments:

Second time to use TRLinux and my YCCC SO2R box in a mid/major contest. First
time was last weekend in the NAQPCW. I had concerns because midweek in testing
and using the old NAQP log the computer kicked me out of the program saying
"segmentation error" and I was concerned it would happen again and it
did 10 times over the weekend. Not sure how to fix that error unfortunately.

On Thursday/Friday I came up with a solution as far as monitoring when sending
with only the paddles and keeping radio sidetones quite low and that was a
total success (more later). I wanted to try it out for future use and it was a
very nice added feature for me.

This was also the first time to use spots at my station with radio control. A
few years ago I had a separate computer and watched the spots. The whole
contest I don't think I ID'd 30 stations calling CQ by myself. With QTC's and
chasing spots you are fairly busy but I found that I just didn't have much of a
reason to try and find stations by myself and this is why I don't care for spots
that much. They just make me too lazy.

Conditions were so so, with Sunday being better days on both 80 and 15. 10
never really opened for me Sunday. I heard CR2K and thought it might open but
that was the only European station I heard except for EA7AAW who called me on
15 and on a lark I asked him to move to 10 and he was loud and we worked.

A very nice showing of activity with the U.S. more represented then normal
since it is a 1000 point event. The QTC aspect makes it more interesting
albeit hard to explain to others not involved in contesting.

Thanks for the Q's and making this a different kind of contest.
