It certainly hurts to not have a decent receiving antenna.  While my
"T" antenna gets out pretty well, it's lack of directivity makes it a
lousy RX antenna. I know I missed several dozen QSO's because of that problem
here at my WY QTH. I did manage to work a few JA's, but no EU or other
significant DX.  

Came close to a sweep, but no Maritime or Hawaii!  I couldn't believe it, but
this is probably the first time I've missed Hawaii in a non-VHF contest
involving DX.
