But facts indicate they can be. I use such a system on 80, 40 and 30 
meters.

The Hygain hytower used some parallel elements in combination 
with stubs, as do many commercial antennas. TV antennas do this as a 
standard design practice, as do scanner antennas.

It models OK, it works out mathematically, and people are successful 
using parallel dipoles if they follow the rules.
