[AMPS] Parallel power transformers

Got a question from somebody today. He has two identical power
transformers, each 120v in and 1800 v at 500ma out. The question is could
these be put primaries in series and secondaries in parallel to give a 220
v primary 1800v @ 1 amp secondary?
Theoretically yes, but what about running a real world amp with that thing?
I'd be tempted not to, but any ideas?
