Even with a non-resonant choke filter, you can get some surprisingly
high voltage spikes when the load varies suddenly.  I once made a ~150
volt DC supply for test purposes and was easily able to get 300 volt
spikes when suddenly removing a resistive load.  Bleeders will help to
alleviate this condition, as will having a large output C, but careful
evaluation is needed before putting such a supply into operation.
