I still have the original face plate and meter case. The reason it went
Tango Uniform is it apparently got moisture in the movement. Along with
that, the thermal couple burned out, (I didn't know it was that then). I'll
have to try the Google search since I haven't done it in a while. I was
hoping maybe some0ne had parted out a SB1K. Nice sturdy amp. RCA
over-engineered it with over sized plate iron (this unit is so heavy you
have to roll it on wheels). 2800vdc on a pair of G-G 3-400Z's for 1KW out.
You could pretty much go key-down with a brick and come back 24 hours later
and it still would be putting out full throttle, (although the FCC wouldn't
care for it ;>)

In addition to my earlier note, I too had to change out the face of the
meters.

  Mike,

Most of the time, those meters were a standard stock meter with the
faceplate changed. About the only way a totally custom meter was made
was for a huge production run in the thousands of pieces. What you may
have to do is call a Simpson distributor like Allied or Newark and let
the salesman handle it. Distributors will always be answered by the
manufacturer and most likely would find the replacement for you.

  Best

amp. I didn't have any luck then so I figured I would try again. The meter
is a 0-8 RF AMP ammeter made by Simpson. ~3" square with internal thermal
couple(?). I had written Simpson but they seem to have completely ignore my
request. I would like to restore this amp to its original state.
