Hi, Bob--
Sure, EVERYTHING can be found with google! ;-) Just that
you have to dig a bit.
But the equipotential (gravitational) reference is the GEOID
rather than the GEODE.
GEODE is a rock, or a program, or a GPS project as in
GPS Enhanced Orbit Determination Experiment (GEODE)
where you see it used in the context of Navigation.
Hey, you may be dealing with a rocket scientist (major in
astrophysics) but I did a minor in geophysics! ;-)
