Exactly.  And the secret is to REALLY THINK about how much you are
willing to pay.  After you come up with a figure, ask yourself "if I
could get it for one dollar more, would I pay it?"  If the answer is
yes, then increase your bid one dollar and do the thinking again and
again until the answer is no.
