Just like the first 20 years of SSB!

Variable bit rate, low dynamic range, digitized audio doesn't take much 
bandwidth
or CPU power. Tokenized speech takes even less bandwidth but more CPU 
and it can
sound like the actual speaker if you've got samples.

i.e. of extreme compression
Joe Bob speaks into his microphone. His
computer sends 'vi-joebob', your computer grabs, from the database,
"yeah ohhhhh mmmmmmm I tried me some of that viagra stuff and it's like 
hitting with a corked
bat, let me tell you is that a big 10-4. By the by how's your old lady, 
break!"

See how efficient it can be!
