With good engineering practice, a 4-1000A / 8166 will deliver 3kW PEP.  
I know of no case where a 1200A7 has delivered this much.

Amen to that.  The A7 has 0.2pF of feedback and the Z7 has about 
one-third of that.  Thus, the A7 is clearly the best choice for 
oscillator service.
