Oh yes, that is for sure!  I don't refute that #10 is more than ample  for 
the job and has plenty of headroom as far as current is concerned.  
BUT.......Some hams are not too technical and would think they would have to  rewire their 
whole house if they had #14 running an SB-220 on 240volts.  If  you are doing 
a new installation of wiring then OK, but you don't have to rewire  your 
whole house.
