So Hal, what you're saying is that any ham with half a brain should not look

in QST for articles of substance. I've found that to be the case for the
last few years. Why do we even subscribe to QST?

Dear Bob,

Let me quote QST:

"" What Are We Looking For? ""

"" Despite the common misconception, QST is not a technical or engineering
publication. QST is a membership journal that appeals to a broad
cross-section of readers. With that in mind, we're looking for articles that
are likely to please the highest percentage of our readership. ""

"" An article that has the best chance of being accepted for QST is one
that... ""

"" Presents a project or idea that is useful and engaging to most hams.
Example: A description of an HF antenna that can fit in a small attic is
useful and engaging to a large portion of our readership. A discussion of
feedhorn design for 24-GHz transmitters is not. ""

So Bob, this explains everything. A League membership supports an
organization that lobbies
Congress on behalf of amateur operators. In the recent rulemaking that
expanded the 'Phone
portions of some of the high frequency bands, the ARRL was quoted and
mentioned several times in the official FCC publication.

QST Magazine is a travelogue. The most important page is the editorial, and
that espouses
the direction the League wishes the hobby to take. The publication is read
by lawmakers
and interested parties, and these people are not interested in building
anything or fixing
anything.

Where is Wayne Green when we really need him?????

Hal
