I think John Lyles' summary is excellent.

He goes on to say:

> Low Mu tubes are best for 
> series pass tube regulators, as they have a low drop across the tube 
> with widely varying load current. 

This statement is true but the low drop is not a result
of low mu but rather of low Rp.  For a given Gm a
lower-mu tube will have a lower Rp, generallly
considered desirable for varying-load situations.
