Having spoken to the people who actually built that beast I was told
that the new design they did proved to be better than necessary - not
only on this point. As they normally do military stuff and this
transceiver borrows some of the technology they use in non-publicly
available models they have been able to achieve some rather good
results.
I also had a chance to listen into 20m with this rig - very impressive!
