Rich, 

Unless the effective parallel R across each component is zero,
this can't happen. Draw the phasor diagram. If even the Xc and Xl
vectors have the same magnitude, the load resistance and the 
equivalent parallel loss resistance will skew the admittance phasors 
so that even if they are equal in magnitude, they will no longer be 
opposite in phase.
