[Amps] Voltage Doubler Circuit Design

Every Radio Handbook, and Radio Amateur's Handbook from about 1930 on has a 
circuit for a voltage doubler.  There are only two basic ways you can wire 
it - one more common than the other.  They all double the voltage, which 
would be a peak voltage of 1.414 times the rms secondary x 2.  The 
capacitors keep the voltage close to the peak - depending upon the load.

In most cases, series capacitors are used because they are much less 
expensive than large high voltage capacitors and series diodes are used for 
the same reason.  Heath made it all work.
