In answer to Bill Fuqua's question, experience and older
copies of the Handbook provided the information
to multiply the a.c. secondary voltage by a
minimum of 2.82 for the diode capability.

Practically, using a minimum of three times the a.c.
secondary R.M.S. for the diode rating and for the
filter cap rating has been the rule of thumb for the
last four amplifier projects.

Are there any application notes that tell you how many 1kV PIV
rectifiers one should place in series for N*kV PIV . The number should
be greater than N.
But by how much?
