[Amps] The SB220 Mystique

Lee, By in large, the Sb-220 amp is popular because they show up all over  
the place.  At any given time there are 3 or more on EBAY.  You don't  see that 
many of a single model amp of any other brand that often for  sale.  There are 
a lot of new hams coming into the ranks, namely the no  code Generals and 
Extra's.  They want amps, when you make the comparison on  price on a NEW amp 
running a pair of 3-500's (most over $2500.00) an SB-220  running a pair of the 
same tubes for $700.00 or so seems like a deal.   These newbies are not so 
concerned with quality as they are with price I  assume.  There may be other 
reasons, but that is the way I see it.   Lou
