Mike,

Since the L4 by itself is not a QSK amp, I'm assuming you're running the 
IC-765 in Semi-Break-In mode with the L4?  That would explain the T to R 
lag.

In any case, one option is to use an Ameritron QSK-5 or upgrade the L4's 
switching relays with a vacuum type at the amp's RF output and an RF reed 
signaling relay at the amp input.
