[Amps] Right mounting of HV oilfilled C's?

Is it allowed to mount oil-filled capacitors "on the side", with the connectors not on top?

Here why I ask:  I got 3 nice oil-filled capacitors from CSI, made in USA. They are labeled as a K-film capacitor, 48 uF/4,5 KVDC. "non PCB".
They are very compact, and I like those C's as a rugged alternative to a "grave of elcos". 2 days ago I finished a small HV-PSU with 2x 1000VA transformers. I get 3600V DC. Although the box is not finished 100% (my aluminium supplier is still in XMAS holidays), I tested it on the air. This morning I called 2 hours on 160, then went to the bathroom while the tubes cooled down, HV still on. Suddenly I heard a big bang from the shack, and I stood in the dark....totally undressed, of course. Perfect timing! I tippeled downstairs to the fuse box...don't laugh!
Now I localized, that one of the oil-filled C's is short, and the body is deformed....there must have been excessive pressure inside. Now I ask myself if it is not allowed to mount them lying on the side. Is it possible the oil is mooving down, leaving a "dry area" on the top-side?
I can send pictures of these capascitors, if necessary.
