[Amps] condition 4-1000A tubes?

The only real problem that I have encountered with 4-1000A tubes is plate being bent off center.
It can be bent back. This is done by dropping them in shipping. The plate is held in place by a
soft tubular conductor. The only ones that are not subject to this problem are the ones made by
Amperex. Their construction is completely different and the plate is graphite.
I have only encountered a couple of gassy 4-1000As and were neither EIMAC or AMPEREX.
Some off brand manufacturer.
i agree with plug it in and run. They can take tens of thousands of volts on the plate.
In AM they are exposed to over 10 kV peak voltage and often pass 30 kV highpot test
with out conditioning. Triton had trouble making. Most of theirs were gassy as well as their
3-1000Z tubes. I believe they gave up on the products. They may have gotten the product from
EIMAC but did not entirely successfully duplicate thieir production techniques for these large glass envleope
tubes.

Happy New Year Dennis,
I just plug mine in and let it rip. That is one rugged tube. When I
first build my 4-1000 just for kicks I plugged in a 4-1000 I picked up at a
HAMFEST for $1. It looked real bad and my intent was only to use it for
working out the spacing, etc. Well the filaments lit up with power, it didn't
arc with high voltage (5500 volts) and it put out over 1KW. It's been
almost 20 years and the tube is still going strong.

Can someone point out a good source of information on how to properly
condition a 4-1000A tube that has been on shelf for a very long time.
Thanks
