[Amps] Overdrive protection

I probably should address this question to the FT-5000 list, but since
this discussion concerns ALC control, it's also appropriate here. There
is a switch on the back of the 5000 called E.ALC. According to the
manual, this switch changes the ALC gain from high to low and vice
versa. It's not clear to me what Yaesu means by ALC gain. Is it the
range of voltages that the exciter responds to for throttling the drive
to the amp? That makes sense, but I've never heard that term before.

Can someone enlighten me?

Thanks and 73,

Joe
