You're both confusing the carrier of a charge with the measure of charge.  While electrons carry charge in a metal conductor, ions do the same thing in an electrolyte.  It's still current.

The sign of the measurement is relevant only in engineering and matters only to the extent that it be consistent.

I still ask for an explanation of why the filament or cathode in a tube has to be heated to receive the current flow. I've been asking this question for fifty years. Still waiting.
