No, it's not new, been around for years. Check the Icom website. 

Full model number is IC-PW1. 

It does have one minor problem which Icom is apparently unwilling to fix.
The CI-V bus used for auto band changing is susceptible to packet
collisions and under certain circumstances can hot-switch while
transmitting. There are several fixes available, just don't operate it
without one in place. Glad to furnish more info on request.
