I am just curious on how do the broadcast industry protect these things.
I toured a local FM Broadcast station last fall, after they Up-Graded
their 16Kw OUTPUT FM transmitter from a tube type transmitter that was 6
feet tall, 2 feet deep, and close to 16 feet wide. Ran a 4CX 15000 as a
final.
Now the transmitter same output and all, but the foot print is a unit
that is also 6 feet tall, and again about 2 feet deep. but only 3 feet
wide. And it actually could have been made smaller when opened it had a
LOT of empty space inside!
And here is something that MUST keep transmitting 100% duty cycle 24/7
or they loose big money.
I have zero knowledge of what the finals are that generates 16+ KW
OUTPUT on the FM broadcast band.
