[Amps] Johnson KW Matchbox relay question

Vic,

The schematic shows a 16uF/250 cap directly across the coil. An 18-ohm/2W
resistor is in series with what *appears* to be a cap that together are in
series with the 115 VAC source. However, that cap is shown on the schematic
as two small "plates" but those plates may in fact be a rectifier, possibly
even selenium. That's the only configuration that makes sense to me.

Subject: [Amps] Johnson KW Matchbox relay question

Not exactly an amp question, but you guys will know.

I have a relay that was removed from a Johnson KW matchbox. I know the
Matchbox relay operated from 115 vac, but the relay is not an AC relay.
I suspect that at some point the Matchbox contained a rectifier and possibly
other components.

I tried the relay on 32v dc and that was enough to hold it, but not pull it
in. 115 vac just makes it hum.

I suspect it is a 115 V DC coil. Does anybody know before I destroy it with
my experiments?

Part no. is EF Johnson 22-1153 or AEMCO 51-2595.
