The biggest SSB contest of the year is back as the 2008 CQ WW DX SSB
test will bring thousands of contesters to the HF bands on the last
weekend in October. The defending champ is Tom Georgens W2SC, who has
won this contest three times in the last seven years from his shack on

year's CQ WW SSB test should be a battle between New England and the
Mid-Atlantic, as defending champ K5ZD looks for a challenge from K1DG,
while 2006 US SOAB HP champ NN3W hopes to crash the party in what
promises to be a difficult 48 hour battle.



CU2A Favored To Repeat In CQ WW SSB Europe

After winning the top spot in Europe the past two years in the CQ WW
SSB contest, Toni Linden OH2UA will do battle this year with a new and
improved CU2A contest site in the Azores. He'll again be chased by

Big Fall But Quick Return For W2GD/P40W

It was barely four months ago that John Crovelli W2GD fell during a
tower accident in Maine, an accident that left him in the emergency
room with a broken pelvis and other injuries. While Crovelli won't be
at P40W for CQ WW SSB this year, he is clearly on the mend and ready
for 48 hours of action.
