Subject: Update: Thailand CQWW VHF contest 6-metre permission
To: dx at thai.com

This is to bring everyone on the RAST mailing list an update on the
special permission granted by Thailand's National Telecommunications
Commission (NTC) allowing for temporary operations on six metres
(50-54MHz) during the CQWW VHF contest on the weekend of July 17-18,
2010.
Please note that this permission has been granted specifically for
RAST's club station HS0AC, and the NTC's letter of authorisation
specifies the use of licensed equipment. Other Thai stations are not
permitted to use six-metres on this occasion.
Operators at HS0AC will be hoping to make as many DX contacts on
6-metres as they can during the contest, but of course, these can only
be with stations outside Thailand, propagation (hopefully with some
good sporadic-E openings) allowing.
It is hoped that this operation will demonstrate the capabilities of
this band (and the lack of any interference problems, especially now
that Thai TV Channel 3 has moved to a UHF frequency) and RAST intends
to seek permission to operate on six metres on an ongoing basis.
RAST will keep members posted on developments.
