PED Problem

I downloaded a copy of PED and am having a problem with it.
It draws some CT-like boxes on the screen, but ** NO TEXT ** shows up
in the boxes.  The prompts for callsign, etc. appear; the CW starts
coming (PC speaker only) and I can "work" the people, but their
calls, etc. don't appear on the screen!  I'm using an old XT/CGA.
The download seemed to work perfectly.  Any suggestions?
