I'm not 100% sure, but my guess would be that you saw the site of NR5M. I
have never been there (I been gone from Texas DX Society territory for 14
years now), but that is approximately where NR5M should be.

NR5M is on 290 just west of Hempstead, Texas.

Subject: VHF Rover Rules

I am against the recent release regarding changes to the ARRL VHF Contest
Rover category.
Rovers should be eligible for Club scores. These guys work hard. They
contribute to everyone's score and the overall contest activity (the
reason the category was instituted). There is no reason I can see as to
why they should not be allowed to count toward the Club (the 175 mile
rule not withstanding).
There is also no reason to overly complicate the rules to eliminate the
practice of multiple rovers travelling together and working each other.
Sure, there was an entry that exploited this to make an incredible
score. Yes, it's not real fair to the rest of the "legitimate"
competitors. But, imagine how many rules we would have to have to cover
every conceivable act by people during the contest.
I would prefer to let peer pressure discourage this type of silly entry.
Besides, imagine how boring it must have been for these guys to circle around the block
working each other. Get a life!

Randall A. Thompson, K5ZD
