I will be QRV 40m single band during upcoming WPX. Hope my brandnew
Cushcraft beam will not disappoint me! A shorter call would have been
much better, but I am still working on it.

OT4A will operate M/S from Belgium

          and

PA6WPX will operate M/M from The Netherlands

I will operate the run station from OT4A on Saturday from
0400-1200z, and similar times from one of the stations on
Sunday from PA6WPX. (I should be Swiss with my
neutrality... or am I double agent?)

Hope to see you all in the contest.

Fred-

Glad to see your going to show OK2RZ some hospitality! I also got his
letter w/QSL, but did nothing because I saw others were responding to
his requests. I would like to meet him, if schedule permits. If not,
please give him my regards.

p.s. Last nite's wind storm straightened out my KT-34XA! Now I just have
to go up and tighten down the clamp a bit more!

The 1993 Sweepstakes Mugs are on the way! I received mine via UPS yesterday-
quite handsome maroon/gold cup. No sign of the pins, though - guess their
coming under separate cover.

The WZ1R crew will be doing the usual M/M thing this weekend from
the QTH of KY1H in beautiful Peru, MA.

Be sure to stop by this weekend (as many as 6 times, if you like) for
that rare WZ1 multiplier!

I have the temerity to post this here since contesters have as much
difficulty with telephone RFI as most anyone I know...

The FCC's May 4, 1994 report on telephone interference is an
extraordinarily valuable reference and potential tool in dealing with
telephone interference complaints. I don't believe that a couple of
points have received enough emphasis in published reports on it. In
particular, it lists the make and model of hundreds of telephones that
received interference, as well as over 50 that did not, in their test
sample. Many of the phones that were not affected are of the same make,
"vintage" and general price class as those that were. It also lists two
makers of moderately-priced "bullet-proof" telephones that were
interference-free in 96 percent of cases where other phones were receiving
interference. This document can certainly help bolster the argument that
it's the phone, not the transmitter.

The report is obtainable by FTP from fcc.gov as the file rpts4002.txt in
the /pub directory. If anyone without FTP capability wants a copy,
please e-mail me and I'll send it on to you.

I have been in touch with Jiri, as have several others on the east coast.
Jiri's plans are fairly well described by Fred (K1VR) in a previous message.
I have extended Jiri the hospitality of the Frankford Radio Club during his
visit and suggested he try to make our June Summer meeting at K3BHX's QTH.
That will provide Jiri with the opportunity to meet a large number of the
guys he has heard from the other end these many years. The meeting is set
for June 12 and begins around mid day. If you are within commuting distance
of Blue Bell, PA (a suburb of Phila.), then by all means come join us as we
welcome Jiri and also have a generally good time discussing antennas, rigs,
CT & what have you.

To those of you that are also making plans for Jiri, let's try to coordinate
our planning so that he and his companions can have the smoothest, most fun
filled stay in the US. This is his first time in a "foreign" country, so it
behooves us to help him as best we can. Please send your plans directly to
me or to the reflector if you think that is required, but please let's get thi
thing coordinated so that he doesn't get tugged every which way as he travels
up the coast and back down again.

Thanks & 73's de Sig, N3RS
