I must take issue with that statement. Two years ago I was ordered by my town
to not only remove my tower but cease operating as my alledged TVI was
interfering with my neighbor's peaceful enjoyment of his premises.
This was a major battle for about a year as my new neighbor (of 3 months) hired
the best attorney around (one that represents WALMARTS that go in where they are
not wanted) and they sued the town under a vague by law provision. My tower was
not only a safety menace (no guy wires--forget the self supporting part) and a
blight on the neighborhood that lowered values. Well, not to burn up
bandwidth...I won! The Town board of Appeals decided it was not technically
qualified to rule on how tall a tower needed to be to propagate as well as the
interference issues and the reams of documents on PRB-1 was of major help in
representing my case. How did I get all this info...the ARRL's Washington
office..in particular Chris Imlay, N3AKD, was always available to coach me. I
represented myself (no I am not an attorney) and Chris read all my submissions
and made numerous suggestions.
I live in a small town and a large Ham contingent (mostly from surrounding
towns) came to the meeting in support and that also played a big part. It was a
group of hobbyists versus the mean suited Lawyer. I think the people on the
board listened to the facts the league provided me with...not legal rheteric
spewed out by the opposing attorney who came in with all the cases where PRB-1
was thrown out--mostly where some guy put up a 200 foot tower with guy wires
across his neighbors' yards.

Did you call the league? I think people are quick to say the league is a waste
but never try to use those resources...they just hire their own attorneys and
see who can piss the farthest.

Well, the state of Massachusetts (one of the most liberal east of CA.) just
passed a tower bill that is a vote for PRB-1. Glad I don't live in one of those
conservative Western states....

Subject: K7UP 10 mtr Multi-op Score
Exact numbers are not important as this was a real bummer. Hr are the approx
numbers:
110 CW Qso
90 SSB Qso
About 30K points
Wasted a lot of the weekend working this one. Kept waiting for some kind of
Es to show up. Highlight was watching the S meter as N5OLS (abt 800 miles away)
called CQ and the meteor ionization bounced the signal from S zero to 10 over.
John, K7UP got the Saturday morning CW opening and worked the 1s, 2s & 3s. I got
the rest.
Also noticed a G3 put out WD0T on the cluster. Anyone know where this G3 is??
Is it possible he copied WD0T from across the pond??

Highlights: Chumming up with FRC buddys on the air and ragging N3ADL
insesently, not having to shovel snow, actually running on CW Rates of up
to 150/hr on Saturday. Getting a better score than Doug!
Lowlights: Who the heck ate all my Kim Chee? I just wanna know where it is
last I looked it was in the fridge and now it's gone. There is a rhumor
going around the house that the wife found it and carried it outside with
a
big pair of Bar-B-Que tongs.
My chair broke! The little spring thingy went shooting across the floor and
I went @$$ over tea kettles.
Blew up a monitor but thats ok I had 9 more in the shop to choose from!
Having 90% of the people calling me be less than S-1
This is to certify that in this contest I did not cheat too much and that
had the ARRL or QST et all bothered to actually publish the rules I would
have followed them. I lieu of that I followed the rules from 1975. My
real summary will be sent to the ARRL and I should have been in bed an
hour ago. My dog has gas. (The preceeding was supposed to be funny
so laugh at it OK!!)
