First, let me thank all who responded to my question about the best combination
of filters for the TS-850.
I had several requests for a summary of my responses, so here it is!
The general consensus was to put 500 hz in both IFs, then add the SSB filter.
Some used the 250 hz instead of the SSB filter, so if you operate only CW,
you may want to look at that option as well.
A few people said that the 250 hz filter has a tendancy to rig, so they stayed
away from it. They also said that 250 hz was just too narrow for contesting.
There were also several recomendations of the International Radio and Computer
filters over the Kenwood filters. It sounds like these may be the filters to
get.
Again, thanks for all of the responses. It really helped me to figure out how I
wan to configure my rig (when I get it!). I hope this summary will help anyone
in the same boat as I am!
If you have any questions, or want a copy of the responses I received, just drop
me a line directly and I'll get right back to ya!

Hi Lyndon...
It sure sounds like you guys have a great time up there in the Great
White North, eh? It is always a pleasure to hear that big signal and
to work you guys year after year. But, you forgot one thing, eh? The
beer stats! How many beers did you guys consume during the contest?
Before the contest? After the contest? How many beers did Dave have
before he plunged into the drink, eh? Inquiring yanks want to know
these things .... .. So let us see the beer rate included in your
reports. Good luck in '95.
