Aluminum fence wire can be purchased very cheaply. Can this be used for
radial wires in a phased vertical system? I believe it is about 18 gauge wire.

Yes it may be used, not only for radials, but also
for building actual wire antennas under the right
mechanical circumstances.

In the case of radials, take care when bonding the wires
together or to nonaluminum wire.
