For those who wish to participate in the PA party this weekend and don't
have a logger for the contest, I've put a public domain DOS based logger
on my email file server. To recieve a copy, send:
"sendme pa1200b" to "pa-fs at nad.com" (without the quotes, of course).
You will recieve a UUENCODEd ZIP file. DOS UUDECODE.BAS is also available from
my server. To recieve a copy in plain ASCII text, send "sendme fs-tools".
73 and see you in the party!

Subject: TIC ring-rotors (ROTATORS!) parts

Keith, et al
Todd's wife (Todd is the main contact point for the TIC rotators) works at
Digi-Key. All electronic parts in the units come from Digi-Key. Even the
meter is special ordered through Digi-Key rather than direct from the
manufacturer. I once went through the exercise of making a complete parts
list including the Digi-Key part numbers for the control units with the
thought of building a few to run my prop pitch rotators (you know, the ones
with rotors in the motors). If there is sufficient interest (ie more than
one) I might be tempted to find the list and convert it to a file that can
be emailed. Right now it is just scribbled on blank paper and stuck in the
back of a manual.
I have been so pleased with Digi-Key over the last few years that I tend to
design around what is in their catalog and only go to other catalog vendors
(Newark and Allied, etc as a last resort). So their choice of a vendor in
the same city is a fortuitous one for all concerned.

Subject: Typical yagi wind load?
Message-ID: <9510101845.AA24081 at marel.is>
Hi,
I´m preparing a letter to Rohn and US Tower to request tower catalogs. I am
giving them an idea of my situation (location, wind data, etc.), in the
faint hope they may suggest something useful. Can someone out there drop me
info on typical wind load for 3, 4 or 5-el 20m CONTEST yagis in the next few
minutes? That way I can wrap this up before I leave work(!)

Do you experienced aluminum growers have any general opinions on the quality
of towers made by various manufacturers? In my situation wind (up to 90mph
according to the local WX bureau) and proximity to the ocean (salt
water/air) are the main concerns.
Please respond directly and I´ll summarize to the contest reflector if it
seems worthwhile.
