Not sure when this issue arrived at the PO box; was on business trip (no, not
fishing) first of week.

Multiband Trap Dipole Antenna; Product Review - JPS NIR-12 DSP; The Droopy

Other notable items: DC Currents - FCC looks at restrictions on antennas; The

The 95 QST/QEX/NCJ issues are now available on CD ROM. It sure would be nice
to get a CD ROM with all the back issues (prior to 95) of NCJ and QEX. Hard
copy back issues of QST are readily available at most hamfests and some
libraries; however, I have never seen any issues of NCJ or QEX.

Interesting new ad from Icom for the IC706. You can now get a free phone (as
in telephone) card for up to $70 of long distance phone calls. What's next!
Maybe Kenwood will offer a kitchen blender, coffee maker, or cellular phone.
Don't forget, its got to appeal to the truck stop crowd.

Hmmm, seems that I remember working a KZ5... on 6 SSB back in the 70s, don't
remember the call. Maybe I'll check the QSL box, and call. Your move.

73 and good reading,

In my recent post, I said that YS is based on "C". NI6W and I exchanged
quite a bit of mail and conversation about this issue, and I sent him
a detailed analysis of the differences between "C" and "E", including
excerpts from my copies of "E" and ASCE 74. K6STI sent me a note
indicating that the new version of YS is or will be based on "E" (I'm
not sure of the status of the release).

YS is easy to use, has lots of data about materials and tubing in easy-
to-access form, and was a lot of work for NI6W (who by the way is a
professional in the mechanical area). It might answer a lot of antenna
strength questions, just as YO and AO answer electrical design questions.

But of course, the real proof of the pudding is in the building of the
real antennas.
