ah, but that makes it even more important. if the lu novices are going
to be looking for contest contacts in that band segment the arrl should
readjust their suggested contest frequencies. btw, as soon as the
sunspots heat up just a bit i will expect that 10m will fill up from
28300 to over 28600 the way it was last cycle. it wasn't that long
ago when dx stations packed 28300 to 28500 so they could work the u.s.
novices and the only reasonable cq frequencies for stateside were
above 28500.
also, the u.s. novices do have cw privileges on 10m also... so its like
the other bands, contesters still normally only use one mode. and i
have had excellent runs of w4/w5 novices in the last couple years down
below 28350 because of stateside qrm up higher in the evenings.

Thanks to all who responded to my plea for help with the CT loop network.
I make a network "hub" using an old A/B switch and it works great.
It occured to me during this process that if I didn't have a 3 ports on one
of the PC's (Paket, radio and network) that I could get an extra PC that
had 2 ports and use it as a paket "server" that way no PC would need more
than 2 ports.

Other than why worry about 10M at this point in the cycle, I see absolutely no
need to create contest-free zones. What are 30, 17 and 12 metres? Even in
the best of times there's very little if any activity in the last 25-50 kHz of 20 &
15 metres. Most contests are heavily publicized and those who complain
deliberately try to have a QSO right in the middle of the heavy-duty contest
activity frequencies. Also contest activity follows the bands so there's usually
plenty of free frequencies on 20 once almost everybody moves to 40. Last
but not least SSB is open during a CW contest and vice versa.

But it definatly looks like the gov down there did it and not the
Argentinian Novices!
So why should both us and them suffer by not being able to work a contest
because their Government went and changed their rules?
I say that we work around this and try to set aside a new contest free
zone on 10m after this season!

3E, PANAMA. Roger, DL5RBW, and Andy, DL8RBR, are taking part in the
Contest from Guenter's (HP1XVH's) QTH on Contadora Island (NA-072) as
3E1DX. Before the contest they will be active as HP1/homecall on the
WARC bands and RTTY.
4M5, LA ORCHILA ISLAND. 4M5X will be the callsign used (not YV10M from
La Orchila Island as previously announced) for a Multi/Single entry
from YV5JDP's QTH in Caracas, Venezuela. Operators are: WM2C, YV5JDP,
YV5EED, YV5AMH, YV5LWM, YV5MHX and maybe a few others. QSLs for 4M5X,
as for previous 4M5X operations, go to the WS4E mail drop. WS4E is not
the QSL manager, but will get your QSLs to Caracas in a safe fashion.
Please include sufficient postage for return from Venezuela.
AY7, ARGENTINA. Claudio, LU7DW, states he will sign AY7D in the contest
as a Single OP/Single Band on 15 or 10 meters depending on the propagation.
C31, ANDORRA. Operators C31LD, C31LJ, and EA3NY have decided to be
active in the contest as C31LD on 6 bands for this weekend. QSL via
VE3HO. There have been many requests for them on 160. Look for them
on 160 (1.837 +/-) around sunrise 0615z both mornings.
ED9, CEUTA. Jose, EA7KW/EH7KW, states the EA9EA group will be active
as ED9EA as a Multi/Single entry from Ceuta.
FS, ST. MARTIN. Remeber to look for WX9E and N0BSH to operate as a
Multi-Single using their host's QTH and call, FS5PL. They are currently
there and have been quite active on the bands especially on the low bands
and WARC. They are currently signing FS/homecall and QSL via their
homecalls. They are returning to the states on October 29th. QSL FS5PL
via WX9E ONLY for 1996 ARRL CW & SSB and 1996 CQ WW SSB contests. Other
FS5PL QSLs go to KG0UI or FG5BG.
NH2, GUAM. Four operators will be active as NH2C as a Multi-Single entry.
Operators will be: JI3ERV/NH2C, JG3RPL/KF6BJ, JR3RVO/WX8M and JR7OMD/WI3O.
QSL via JI3ERV. Their Sunrise/Sunset: 2014z/0756z. They suggest to look
for them between 7075-7100 kHz on 40 meters.
KH0, MARIANA ISLAND. Look for KH0A (not KH0AM!) to be active as a
Multi/Single. Operator will be JA1WSX/KH0Y, JE2PCY/AC6TN and
JF1MIA/KH0A. QSL via JF1MIA, or bureau (which will be much appreciated).
JF1MIA; Takashi Sugawara, 1-12-14 Kamisueyoshi, Tsurumi, Yokohama,
Kanagawa 230, JAPAN
SV, GREECE. A radio amateur association of West Greece (RAAWG> will take
part in the contest as SV1AFA. They will operate from Vlochos Mountain
at an altitude of about 1000 meters! Their actual QTH will be inside the
local monastery along with the cooperation of the local authorities. This
place is also famous in Greece because of its archeological value. Near
the monastery are the ruins of Thestieon acropolis which was constructed
by King Laertes of Ithaka, father of the famous Odysseus from the Greek
ancient mythology. Their contest category will be Multi-Op/Single with
activity on 160-10 meters. QSL via SV1CIB.
TK, CORSICA. TK1A will be active instead of TK2C as announced earlier.
Members of the Corse DX-Gang and the Bavarian Contest Club are taking
part in the contest as a Multi/Multi class. QSL-information is: DF7RX,
Bernhard Steibl, Kelheimwinzerstr. 40, D-93309 Kelheim or via bureau
(DARC).
V26, ANTIGUA. Team Antigua will be active as V26B as a Multi-Operator/
Multi-transmitter catagory. In addition, the Team would also like to
announce that both the 5 band and 6 band Certificates of Appreciation
will be available once again for the 1996 operation. Briefly, to qualify
for these Special Certificates of Appreciation you have to work V26B
during the CQWW SSB Contest period on either 5 bands or to receive the
Special Certificate of Appreciation, 6 bands! Members of Team Antigua
will also make special attempts to be active on the WARC Bands, RTTY,
160 meters, as well as some Satellites! QSL via WT3Q.
YB, INDONESIA. Joerg, YB1AQS will participate as Single OP Allband
from Bandung, West Java - Indonesia. He will be using a 3 element Quad
at 65 ft. high on high bands. He will be looking especially for all of
America (N-Middle-S) during contest.
YW1, VENEZUELA. The Paraguana Team in Venezuela will activate the
contest station YW1A during the contest. The operator will be Italo,
YV1AVO, and the category will be Single Operator Single Band (20
Meters) Phone.
ZX0F, FERNANDO DE NORONHA. Look for the Araucaria DX Group again to be
active as ZX0F as a Multi-Op/Single. Operators are: PY5CC/Peter,
N5FA/Jim, PY5EG/Oms, PY0FF/Andre and PY5GU/Gus. QSL via PY5EG,

LATEST PROPAGATION FORECAST - "KH6BZF REPORTS"
BAD NEWS: A Geomagnetic Storm (MS) occured starting @ 23/0001 UTC due
to Solar Winds from suspected Coronal Hole activity. This Minor Storm
(MS) was forecasted to disrupt polar path and lessen DX. Hopefully this
storminess will subdue by Friday, otherwise we are in for a long and
very frustrating contest weekend.

I will like to congratulate all the fine and good Contester`s for your
great idea of listing and great magic of propaganda on advertising your
calls so that way we will be able to memorize, and in the contest maybe on
160 meters with all the qrm and qrn you guys are calling cq and some one
can not get your complete prefix but as the suffix,so he reminds him self
that on the internet,he heard that familiar suffix so maybe this his the
guy.
Being all this calls on the dx side,it is possible that no one will call
them so they have to make some propaganda,well my friends i have a secret
to share i think every single one of you on this reflector must do the same
thing,my theory is with that you can get at least 2 more meg + to your
score,that way if you advertise you place 1,2,3,and if not then there is
all ways a next year.

Say I'm operating the mult radio this weekend at K1XYZ and have just
worked the FW on 160. Is it OK/ethical/legal for me to then work him
with my call, KD1NG, for a new one? Of course, I would'nt enter him
into the K1XYZ log again, but would jot it down and enter it into my
personal log later. Would the FW be penalized for a unique if KD1NG
doesn't show up in enough logs in this test?

"last minute info" out from the local packet radio net.
There seems to be a group of german ops at 4U1ITU during the upcoming
CQWWDX SSB Contest.
One of the operator is DL8BDR

Subject: XY1HT Myanmar in CQWW

Just a reminder that the JA1UT DX Group will again be operating from
Myanmar (4th operation) this time including the CQWW period.
While some ops have been there about a week, the others all arrive
today for operating permission starting today through November 4,
1996
They will be at the downtown site meaning receiver noise again on 75
meters but they will be operational.
