Hello All....
Less than 30 days till we can stop this vanity crap and get back to trashing
the nets!
( I know...we have to bite our tongues lest our less experienced brethern
lose interest....But I know and you KNOW I know...and I know you know I
know.....)
Now...quoting the FRC Charter under section C.1a : to wit....No single op is
permitted ANY sleep. The contest is 48 hours....not 34! Transgressions are
dealt with severely and swiftly. Violators are sentenced to work the 160
Phone contest from the "Black Hole" of WN3K's palatial estate.. Believe
me..there are few violators.
I hope you ALL get the calls you so EAGERLY desire...I'm still debating which
call to pick in gate 3.....but you'll have to work me to find out what it
is....
If you need V2 on RS - 12 I'll be QRV Monday after the TEST...Should have 5-6
passes. QSL V26DX to the manager KK3S....Tyler,KF3P/V26TS will have RTTY up
and running, too....QSL his home call

Place a variable resistor in shunt across the Left and Right audio lines.
I forget exactly what value I used, probably 500 ohms or so. The CW
position basically shorts L & R together so both radios are in both ears,
CCW is nearly "hard left and hard right". I prefer operating stereo with
a slight presence of each radio in the opposite ear. It seems less
fatiguing and I can concentrate a little easier. This arrangement also
alleviates the imbalance you refer to.
I have also operated at a station where a box does all the audio
switching (and tx/amp enable). Two radio operation has two modes which
I'll call dedicated stereo (radio 1 in left ear, radio 2 in right ear for
both tx & rx) and receiver only mode (radio 1 in left, radio 2 in right
while both are receiving, radio 2 in both ears when radio 1 is in tx and
vice versa). When I get tired, the "receiver only" mode seems to be more
disorienting for me than dedicated stereo but, some ops have the opposite
preference. Of course, the audio box can also select radio 1 only or
radio 2 only.
Make sure you practice, it will take some time and effort to learn this
technique and be able to use it to your best advantage. I am woefully
out of practice myself....

Dear Hobo,
The reflector that your refering to was the original contest reflector
and was quite good for a long time. As in anything else, the word got
around and a lot of wannabees and newbees found links to the place and
what you now read is whats left.
About nine months ago, a sub-reflector which dove tails with the original
was set up and refeeds the inane subjects back to the inmates and in this
way we are able to keep these turkeys down on the farm where they belong,
while us real contesters discuss what is relevant on the sub-reflector.
Also to keep these people under sedation about 5% of the sub-reflector is
randomly rerouted back to the reflector which works like a zener supplying
just enough electrons to activate the contest related synapses in their
gourds. The only reason that this is done is so that we can keep the rate
up during contests and we couldn't do this without the necessary contest
fodder. Pretty smart huh!
Please do not repeat what I have told you because I don't want to ruin my
excellent reputation, so this message is for your eyes only!

Naw, they have a random call generator built into CT. It checks to make
sure the call isn't listed in MASTER.DTA

Didn't you hear? NCJ has added the North American SSTV Sprint. First run
is going to be held next year in April.

No, the woodpecker was actually created by the NCCC. It was designed to
take out the front ends of all the YCCC contest stations with antennas
pointed toward Europe.
