Subject: Submitting NAQP CW Logs Electronically
Message-ID: <199701122229.OAA22546 at bart.ccis.com>
Numerous people have just asked if I will again be taking NAQP CW
submissions electronically. The following excerpt is from my 5 Jan posting:
>
> 1. Please send your NAQP Team pre-registrations in prior to the
>start of the contest. Send CW Teams to me, K6ZZ (w9nq at ccis.com) and SSB to
>Steve, K6AW (merchant at silcom.com).
>
> 2. We will both be accepting E-Mail log submissions again at the
>addresses listed. Send your complete Log and Summary Sheet in ASCII Text
>format. Please, no binary or special format files.
>
Etc...
One additional note about submitting electronic logs, if you use
attached files to E-Mail messages, name the files with your callsign in
them. Ie, K6ZZ.LOG and K6ZZ.SUM or K6ZZ.ALL. If everyone names their file
NAQPCW.LOG it makes it a bit difficult to sort things out. Hopes this helps.

With NA, should I send the .SDF file, or the .PRN file?
Thanks... rich

Subject: All-in-One Tower for Contesting
Message-ID: <32DA4B6C.6828 at ix.netcom.com>
Several weeks ago (I believe), some reference was made to information on
a suggested "All-in-One" tower for contesting. If my memory is
accurate, could someone please point me to that reference?
Also, is there a tower-related reflector?
TIA.

One would have to be pretty crass to run a young kid off a freq!

Message-ID: <32DAAC81.15FB7483 at ix.netcom.com>
I think this is appropriate......
I am in the unfortunate position of being in a location where I can't
access a 2-meter packet cluster.
However, I do have a separate phone line for the modem. Can someone
recommend a good DOS telnet application? Using Win95 Start/Run, I am
able to telnet to several clusters via the internet. I would like to
telnet from DOS, as I could then possibly use this input with my
contest logging programs.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The U.S. callsign map of 1x2 and 2x1 calls (looking like:
Kx0x Nx0x
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
A X XX6XXXXX XXX XXXXXXX XXX A XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXX6XXXXXX A
B XXXXXX XXX X5 XXXXXXXXXX B XXXXXXXXX XX XXXXXX XX X X B )
are now available on the web at
http://members.aol.com/crudedudes/callmaps/ (Thanks to John WN4BBJ)
Similar info has been and continues to be available at http://www.qrz.com,
but differs in the following ways:
* QRZ explicitly lists callsigns, the maps imply them with holes in the
matrix.
* QRZ updates daily, the map infrequently.
* QRZ lists SK calls even though they are not generally available until 2 years
after the FCC posts the status.
* QRZ does not list calls which are expired/vacated less than 2 years.
* The maps show the year (5/6 = 1995/1996) both SK and other calls moved to
the 2 year unassignable list.

Try these, I've used them for 20 years and they work great! They are
receive ONLY. You cannot transmit thru them.

W3LPL RECEIVING FILTERS
Receive only filters optimized for minimal loss and very high rejection of
frequencies 75% of the filter center frequency.
These filters use very high "Q" high impedance resonators consisting
of powdered iron core inductors and silver mica capacitors. The resonators
are lightly top coupled with minimum value silver mica capacitors.
C1/C2 and C6/C7 form capacitive voltage dividers to match the input and
output resonators to 50 ohms.
Be sure to use good quality RF connectors (UHF, BNC or N; not phono!)
50 ohms --- C1 ------------ C3 ------------ C5 ------------- C7 --- 50 ohms
