Boy what a mouthful! Its not just amateur radio however! How about the "right
turn on red AFTER COMPLETE STOP" law? It has gotten so bad here in the
northeast that folks are actually down shifting and accelerating around
corners. This is just society in general. The ME ME ME (screw you) attitude.
Now we get to see what, if anything, will be done about it. That , too, is
part of the problem. Me? I'm for public executions on prime time TV for the
condemed. Perhaps a 1000 dollar fine for that rolling right turn on red would
make the idiot think twice before doing it again. Unable to pay the fine??
Ok..go pound that big boulder into gravel at 8 bux a day. Laws are useless
without enforcement. We have virtually no enforcement. We are left with our
own moral standards to guide us through our lives. "Apples never fall far
from the tree."

The use of a friends address, condo, hotel or whatever is not more
ethical to me that a mult transmitter calling CQ - both are not the
intentions of what was presented but an abuse of the system.

What's more, the FCC agrees, and the data regarding the address of
AL0HA has already been passed on to the FCC Enforcement Division at
the highest levels who are looking for the valid address and the 4
amateurs in Alaska claiming to be members of this club.

Are we self-policing ? Do we earn the respect for obeying the law
that we expect to be granted ? Constantly finding ways around
regulations don't do anything good for the hobby.

As cute as AL0HA may be, the process of obtaining it may be tainted.

Hi Guys,

Few typos errors in the last message, the message must be read in this way
:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------
During the next weekend we will be active from the IR4T Contest Place
called "Fungo", with the I4JMY callsign into the CQ160 CW , in a MS
effort.

New beverages receive antenna was installed in the direction not covered
from the TWO element Yagi at 200 feet above ground level.

Look for good USA 0 / 7 opening, and northern european station , we
had always a bad Northern EU reception, we hope to have reduced this
gap.

We will have a preferred frequency around 1835 / 1836 at the DX windows
edge, look for us !!

We will want to test our 3 weeks of hard work to install the antennas !!!!

Operators will be I4JMY, I2VXJ, I4UFH, I4YSS, IK4IEE, IK2QEI .

A month or so ago, someone posted a request here asking
about information on the availability of replacement
12VDC 60 RPM motors for the J.W. Miller AT-2500
Automatic Transmatch. Which, by the way is a very
nice device.

If that person, or anyone else interested in this
information would drop me a note, I'll tell you what
I've managed to find out on this subject.

I will be doing the scores for the CQ 160 Meter Contest this weekend. Here
is the format I wish for you to submit them in and a few guidelines.

CALL HRS SCORE Q'S PTS ST/VE DX
------------------------------------------------------------------

Just type in this one line and that is all there is to it. Now for some
guidelines for submitting them. These guidelines are the same for all
contests that I do.

1. NO ATTACHMENTS !!!!! I will not post any scores that are attached to
   email.

2. These are not OFFICIAL scores. Only for the entertainment of the people on
Internet. Also DO NOT SUBMIT LOGS to me. I have nothing to do with the
   contest or official scores.

3. NO Scores should be put on the Contest Reflector. All scores go to me
   direct or to 3830 reflector.

4. Please put in the subject line your call and the contest you were in.
Remember I do several at one time and do not want to put you in the wrong
one. Example: WA4ZXA 160 Meter CW. Another thing is that I keep the scores
and if you have any questions about what was sent I can go back and find
   them.

5. PLEASE REMEMBER to PUT YOUR FULL CLASS on your submission. Do not just
send me Single OP. You will be put in High Power if you do.

6. Make sure on corrections you send me that you also send me your orginal
score also and the class. If you say please correct WA4ZXA to 22 multis,
then I have to look through the entire sheet to find that call.

Bottom line is before you send me scores, LOOK at them yourself. Ask yourself
could you figure how to post them and where they go. I will post these scores
on the topband reflector also unless someone tells me they do not want them
there.

73 and Good Luck,
Jim

What's unethical about a mult? The operations I have been a part
of have allowed me to operate when the club station would have
otherwise been busy if it were a single op. I guess Field Day is
unethical.

Of course they'll agree when you call up and whine to them. Don't you
think they have anything better to do with YOUR tax dollars? How about
when we have a legitimate beef with an interferer or lid? You'll have =
them
chew up what little enforcement budget they have and leave nothing for
real enforcement matters. Thank you for that.
=20
> Are we self-policing ?

No.

granted ?

No.

the hobby.

Neither does crying to the FCC about something as trivial as this.

> As cute as AL0HA may be, the process of obtaining it may be tainted.

You should have thought about that when the ARRL was preparing their =
petitions
and comments in the Vanity Callsign NPRM process. What? You didn't write
your Division Director and tell of your concerns then? Gee, that's a =
shame. Why
are you crying now when you didn't bother to comment when it was most =
appropriate?
Seems backwards to whine about the rules after they've been written =
where you had
ample opportunity to be in on the writing process.

I'm not directing this at you Bob. The group in general and the majority =
of amateurs
should know full and well about the consequences of legislation. There =
are always
loopholes. Is it unethical to find and use them? Better question would =
be "why did
WE write this silly rule that can be abused?". If something has a =
potential for abuse,
rest assured it will be abused. Used to be that we did not ask the FCC =
for an
opinion as they would surely find a way to say "no".

The wonderful part of Democracy is the little understood fact that if =
you don't
participate you have little room to bitch and have to suffer like the =
rest OR
participate to change it.
