[CQ-Contest] TS 940 and IF 10B problems

I'm trying to get my 940 to be computer controlled. I bought a new IF 10B
and installed it last weekend. Everything appears to be installed
correctly. I'm using K1CC's KIY interface which works fine with my FT 736.
But with the 940 it's no go. I've tried a bunch of different programs, NA,
WJ20, the ones supplied with the KIY interface, etc. but the thing doesn't
work. I looked at the board and pins 9 and 10 of IC2 are not soldered.
According to the schematic, pin 10 is Vcc but it does have that voltage on
it (apparently plated through holes and it's making good enough contact).
Pin 9 seems to be just a baud rate setting which is unused for Kenwoods.
Any trouble shooting hints would be appreciated, and yes, the EPROM is
installed correctly.

Thanks in advance,

Cross country skiing is great if you live in a small country.
